Bill Belichick goes on uncharacteristic spending spree to kick off free agency

Bill Belichick has drawn a lot of criticism for his efforts as a general manager.  For once, it appears that he might be listening to the noise.  Bill went on the biggest shopping spree of his career on Monday, spending more than $200 million in the first eight hours of free agency.

Here’s a list of the players he added, along with their ranking among free agents via Pro Football Focus:

TE Jonnu Smith: 34 (No. 2 tight end), 4 years, $50 million

WR Nelson Agholor: 67 (No. 12 receiver), 2 years, $26 million

EDGE Matthew Judon: 84 (No. 10 edge defender), 4 years, $56 million

DT Henry Anderson: 153 (No. 11 interior defender), 2 years, $7 million

WR Kendrick Bourne: 159 (No. 25 receiver), 3 years, $15 million

DB Jalen Mills: 206 (No. 55 defensive back), 4 years, $24 million

DT Davon Godchaux (not ranked among top 250 free agents), 2 years, $16 million
