Flips Saunders remains stubborn in regards to Kevin Love trade talks

“What the move doesn’t necessarily do is bring the Celtics any closer to Kevin Love. The Timberwolves have still not shown any interest in what the C’s could have to offer, and they have not communicated to Ainge what players they would like that he might be able to get for them.

It is important to note the Celtics and Minnesota have thus far never been close on a deal for Love or even been engaged in any meaningful back-and-forth, offer-counteroffer discussion. It’s a trade the Celts most certainly desire to make, but to do so would take a major change in thinking on the part of the Timberwolves.”

Flip Saunders was quoted a couple months ago as saying that the Timberwolves had no intentions of dealing Kevin Love.  Amid all of the recent trade rumors and despite Love making it clear that he wants out of Minnesota, it appears as though Flip is standing by his words, which makes things extremely difficult for the Celtics.  Obviously Ainge is willing to do whatever it takes to land Love, but if he is given no guidelines on what assets he needs to provide the T’Wolves in order to acquire him, it’s unlikely that he’ll pull this one off.  Crazier things have happened and I hope I’m wrong, but I’m certainly not getting my hopes up.

If Flip Saunders could just accept the fact that the best power forward in the NBA doesn’t want to play for his team anymore, it would make Danny’s job a lot easier.  Somehow I don’t see that happening.
