After Chris Sale pitched an absolute gem in his Red Sox debut (7 innings, 3 hit, 7 strikeouts, 0 runs), the Sox found themselves in a 0-0 tie with the Pirates through 11 and a half innings.

That’s when Sandy Leon aka Hurricane Sandy hit a three run homer over the monster off Antonio Bastardo in the bottom of the 12th:

Leon went 3-for-5 on the day and is now 5-for-8 in the first two games of the season, meaning he has the third best average in the Majors at .625.  We all remember his hot start last year, and he’s already ahead of that pace to start 2017.

The Sox are now 2-0 on the year.  They’ll try to go for a sweep of the Pirates on Thursday.  First pitch is at 1:35.
